Is Cad Training Important?
August 28, 2008 |
Having been around the CAD industry for nearly 10 years one thing has always astounded me and that was the lack of importance that is placed on designers software training by business owners.
Each year industry spends millions of dollars upgrading their very expensive design software. It can be argued however that often the upgrade is forced due to the increased cost of leaving an upgrade until another year but that is a different issue.
In a majority of cases the later versions of the software will have increased capabilities, but because designers are not given the time to do internal training or given external upgrade training the benefits that new features can bring just are simply left uncovered.
And it is not uncommon to find a user through no fault of there own using exactly the same features and functions of the software today that they learnt about four years ago, blissfully unaware of the new capabilities that the upgrades have given them.
To any business owners reading this, do your company and your productivity a favour and train your users other wise you are more than likely losing upwards of tens of thousands of dollars in lost productivity and time to market each year.
